Fishing Fleet Bulldozers, Hastings, England
The beach-based fishing fleet in Hastings, England use a series of old bulldozers to maintain the gradient of the gravel on the beach for the safe release and retrieval of the vessels. These working machines are left on the beach, and as such are subject to significant weathering and corrosion. They are still used sporadically, despite looking as though they have been abandoned. They are therefore fascinating visually, with their extreme cosmetic detriment, but remain a fundamental part of the beach based fishing industry in Hastings. The richness and vibrancy of the colour of the rust seems to grow as the paint of the vehicles fades.
