Residential Basement

Scale is quite often difficult to understand at an early stage in a project, but in this particular project the juxtaposition of the excavation beside the existing buildings on either side brought home the sheer scale of the basement. This particular basement was 45 metres long and 15 metres wide. 

Whilst it dwarfed the adjoining buildings when the excavation was open, it was subsequently covered by the new property and its associated gardens, other than some rear terracing and courtyards to allow light and ventilation into the spaces.
